I built a practice app for SSC JE Electrical — here's why, and what's in it
If you've been prepping for SSC JE Electrical for a while, you've probably run into the same problem I did. Most of the "practice apps" floating around are just old PDFs dumped into a quiz format, or generic templates that could be for any exam — same recycled questions, no real structure, nothing tailored to how this exam actually works.
So over the last few weeks I sat down and built one from scratch. Not repackaged content — every question written, checked, and (for anything with a formula or a calculation) actually re-verified by hand before it went in. It's grown into something with over 1,000 questions now, covering all 14 topics on the syllabus, and I wanted to share it here in case it's useful to some of you too.
What's actually inside
It covers the full syllabus — Electrical Machines, Network Theory, Power Systems, Basic Electrical Engineering, Measurements, Power Electronics, Control Systems, EMT/Field Theory, Utilisation & Traction, Analog and Digital Electronics, Estimation & Costing, plus Reasoning and General Awareness. 1,037 questions in total, each one tagged Easy, Medium, or Hard so you know roughly where you stand as you go.
The part I spent the most time getting right is the two practice modes. There's a regular Practice Mode where you pick an answer, check it, and get the explanation right there — good for actually learning the concept. But there's also an Exam Mode that's built to feel like the real CBT: Save & Next, Mark for Review, Clear Response, and you don't find out what's right or wrong until you actually submit. No peeking mid-question. It's a small thing, but I think it matters — there's a real difference between knowing a concept and being able to perform under the actual conditions of the exam.
There's also a live timer on each question that shifts color the longer you sit on it, real negative marking (−0.25, same as the actual exam) factored into your score, and a history section that tracks your accuracy over time per topic — so you're not just seeing one score in isolation, you can actually watch whether you're improving.
Quick honesty note, since I think it matters: everything in here was written from scratch, not lifted from any source. And to be clear — this is just something I built independently. It's not affiliated with or endorsed by SSC in any way, just a personal project made to help with prep.
